A Walk Around Worsbrough Mill and Reservoir

Jane and I had a little walk out today from home down to the country park.

Killing Time In Wakefield.

Took Jane to Wakefield for a Jackonory poetry get together, I wasn't too keen so I dropped her off and decided to amble around town for a couple of hours and get a few miles in for my #walk1000miles effort. In the end I did about 3 miles.
Wasn't too inspired by Wakefield here are a couple of pics I took.
At first glance I thought this was a church but I think it was a school. Bit passed its prime now.
Lovely restored old cobble Street.

Time For A Haircut.

No it's not me having the haircut it's our lovely Willow Tree in our back garden.

We love this tree but over the last 8 years it had grown very large and was blocking out a lot of light from our garden and our neighbours.

Before the haircut.

And after the haircut a job well done.

The Cherry Blossom looking good at the bottom of the garden.

Of course we kept all the wood, why wouldn't we?

Sun Shining On Pilley Hill

Just a quick walk around the block today and the sun was shining, a bit of a nippy wind though.

Looking back off the hill to Birdwell.
Looking up towards Pilley.
Birdwell to Pilley and Tankersley, just a short hop around the block.

Walking in the rain another 5 miles.

Continuing my 'Walk 1000 miles in 2022' this is day 2 and it was pretty soggy.

We didn't let that deter us and I was so pleased Jane was walking with me today.

A bit of a mixed blessing because I was thinking of a pretty short walk, it was raining, and the next thing I know Jane is leading of through the trees towards Westwood.

Then we walked by Storrs Dyke and returned home via Upper Tankersly.
Exactly 5 miles walked today, banking the miles nicely now.

A Challenging Start To 2023.

So I don't know whether it's my age or what but I've decided to challenge myself again. I am going to walk 1000, yes that's one thousand miles in 2023. Very roughly speaking it's about 20 miles a week for 50 weeks.

Sounds easy but I know it will take a bit of commitment on my part. So seeing as I have been for a half decent walk today I am starting the challenge on Boxing Day, today and it will run until next Christmas 2023.

So today I walked with a couple of friends from Earby to Salterforth then along the canal to Foulridge, back along the old road to Kelbrook and return to Earby.
Today's mileage was 7.8 miles, so only 992 miles to go, LOL.
